Made some more progress tonight. Got the yellow house laid in, the stairs to the blue house entry, and the last couple windows. Next up are the window frames, which should make the houses look much more finished, and fill in the little pocket of sky in the upper right corner to get the canvas covered before tackling the cherry blossom focal point. Really interested to see how this changes the composition once the tree is added, in large part because it will cover a large swath of canvass and really change the balance of the piece. It will either be a massive improvement or an epic failure. Stay tuned…
This photo is a little off. Seems I took it at more of an angle than I had realized, so for some reason that made the left and right sides look like they angle away near the top. Pretty cool, actually, but wasn’t going for Dr Seuss, so I was relieved to find it wasn’t this way in reality when I double checked it today. Phew!

You are off to a good start, esp. with the colors. But you might want to step back and re-examine how you did perspective on the houses. Check with your teacher but looks to me like you might want to redo some of the lines to make sure they are parallel where they need to be. etc. … This is same issue i really had to work hard on when i did Amsterdam canal + buildings a couple of years ago.
Good work so far!!
